Dr.Ashoka Alva is a Research associate of RRC and has done commendable work since 1993 He has guided Ph.D and M.Phil candidates (2004-2005) under the auspicious of Mahe University and Hampi Kannda University. Dr. Ashoka Alva is well associated with Indo Finnish Siri Epic Project under the guidance of Prof Lauri Honko, (Finland) Further he is continued the work of Mega Epic (Siri text of Male version) and traced out gender variation in perspective of analytical study. Dr. Ashoka Alva working in the RRC and rendered consultancy to many academic scholars; Prof. Peter J, Clause, (Hayward-USA) Mastuka Suziki (Japan) Tanaka (Japan). Also rendered consultation to Smt Malavika�s Ph.D. (Texas University) regarding folk dialogue Tulu languages. (2006) |

He is credited three books, received best book award for Tulunadu & Kodagu (Essays on Folk Rituals and Dances of Tulunadu and Kodagu) from Karnataka Government Tulu Sahitya Academy. His recent and commendable book on �saanadige� (2003) which high lights the details of ancient inscription of Tookuru Guttu of Canara-district, book illustrate the details of the 7th century (historical) old manner house and traditional rites. In the year 2005 he brought out a book on folk musical instruments �panchavaadya� (2005) and Yakshagana Bharatiya Natya-edited 2005,. At present he is working the Siri text (feminist version) sung by Smt Kargi Shedti-the title of the book �Siri kaavyalooka� (under publishing by RRC) with Tulu text and Kannada translation. |
